User Training

All users to our NMR Facility are required to undergo basic training by the Facility staff before an account is created to allow the user to operate the instrument(s) without supervision.

External users will need to be granted a sponsored account through the University to access facility instruments, scheduling programs, and databases.

Before a new user can undergo training by the NMR Facility staff, they must complete two online trainings:

1) Cryogenic safety

2) High field magnet from the Office of Academic Research Safety (OARS)

You can access the online training through my.Northeastern .

All new users should contact Jason Guo (j.guo@northeastern.edu) to coordinate a training session. You should include the two certificates from OARS confirming you have completed the required safety training courses when contacting us.

Data Access

For processing of your NMR data on your own computer, we recommend using Bruker Topspin (version 3.5pl7), which is available free to all in academia. Visit the Bruker website and register with your Northeastern University email address for access to the software download.

Online Instrument Time Scheduling

Users of both the 400 MHz and the 700 MHz NMR located in 020EXP are required to schedule instrument time through FBS.

All users will be provided their access as part of our user account creation process.

Users should make note of the scheduling policies displayed upon logging into their account.
