Welcome to the Nuclear Magnetic Resonance Facility at Northeastern University

Nuclear Magnetic Resonance Facility

Northeastern University maintains five NMR spectrometers for teaching and sponsored research. We also offer professional NMR services for non-Northeastern users from the local area.

All students and staff requesting access to the NMRs will need to first complete two online safety trainings arranged by OARS. New users should start with the User Training page.

The facility uses the FBS software for online scheduling. Users can log in with their Northeastern credentials to book time. The 500MHz NMR is operated as a walk-in instrument, requiring no advanced booking. However, both the 400MHz and 700MHz NMRs must be booked in advance. Additionally, the 400MHz NMR is primarily reserved for undergraduate teaching during the semester, so other users should aim to book off-peak hours (overnight and weekends) for their experiments. Common questions are addressed in the FAQs page.

Fee-for-Service NMR analysis is available for both NU research projects and local companies. Contact Jason Guo, Nisal Gajadeera, or Brian D’Amico for more information.
